Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on the 28th of October 1967, in Atlanta. Julia Fiona Roberts is the fourth generation Roberts that resided in Atlanta. Her father took an early interest in the theater. In 1952, while an undergraduate at Emory University, he performed in several productions in Atlanta. He joined the air force in 1953 and, while being stationed at Biloxi Mississippi was cast in an army production that featured Betty Lou Bredemus who was as well in the air force. They married in 1955. Their child, Eric Anthony, was born in the year 1956. The couple divorced in 1957. the Air Force and Walter enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana. Walter began his work at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter and Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local Saturday morning children's television program Bum Bum and His Buddies that they self-funded. They established an Actors and Writers Workshop in the year 1964, and it was in operation for a period of about six years. The couple also had two children: Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also known by the name Lisa), and Julia Billingsley (1967) (also also known by the name Julie).
